Our Story

Savor the Bronx

Nestled in the lobby of the historic landmark building the Clock Tower–formerly a piano factory–Charlies Bar & Kitchen remains at the forefront of a growing and evolving South Bronx. Every aspect of our historic home offers a unique blend of rustic sophistication and style, from the portraits of famous Charlies lining the walls, to our mixologist-crafted cocktail list. Our menus–lunch, brunch, and dinner–feature New American classics with Latin and Southern influences, using farm-fresh, sustainable ingredients from local purveyors. Coupled with a uniquely welcoming atmosphere among Bronx natives and newcomers alike, we seek to redefine what it means to dine in the South Bronx.

Join us for a boozy Boogie Down Brunch every first Saturday of the month, or sample our cheese and charcuterie board for a candlelit date night. We welcome parties of 50 or more, and offer event packages for nearly any budget or level of service. In-house events have the option of hiring live bands, DJs, or even photobooths, while we offer a range of off-premise catering services that allow you to enjoy your favorite CBK offerings in the comfort of your own venue. We are firmly committed to providing the best experience possible for each patron who walks through our doors—let our service and culinary team customize a package and level of service that provides you with the ultimate experience. Again, thank you for considering Charlies Bar & Kitchen; we look forward to serving you.

#1 Bronx Brunch and #20 NYC Brunch by [Publication] in 2018.

“In the neighborhood that gave rise to hip-hop, this orange brick pub inside a former piano factory spins ‘90s rap albums and hosts live jazz bands while slinging Southern-leaning plates every weekend beginning at 11 a.m. Solo diners should belly up to the bar for DJ Menyu’s monthly “Boogie-Down Brunch” of old-school hip-hop and R&B remixes, so you can tune in (or zone out) alongside both Bronx natives and newcomers. Ask for a Henny From The Block, which spices up the caramel-y cognac with hints of ginger syrup and orange bitters, plus a zap of fresh lemon, before diving into the locals’ favorite dish: the Fried Chicken Benny, a decadent hybrid of two brunch bastions that layers a sunny-up egg atop boneless fried chicken and a crispy waffle, all showered in sausage gravy.”

“I ordered the Street Corn and Brussels Sprouts to eat and a Champagne Charlies to sip on. My brother grabbed some Spinach & Artichoke Dip and a brewski (whose name fails me at the moment…) and my boo enjoyed a little bit of everything. We all had a grand ol’ time and will definitely be back for more. Stay dapper, Charlies .”
